Capsule toy collector Wacky Kaiyama, who has collected more than 110,000 capsule toys to date and is called “Japan's number one capsule toy fanatic,” gave us his take on the capsule toy situation in the first half of 2025.

Hello.
I am capsuleer and TV personality Wacky Kaiyama.
I have been into collecting capsule toys since I was in the second grade of elementary school, and now that I am in my 50s, I own 110,000 capsule toys after spinning the gacha every day.
Even though I've messed around more than 110,000 times, I've actually been thrilled every time, even though I've messed around for decades and tens of thousands of times!
Every day, I find a mess, I worry, I laugh, I'm thrilled...
When you can pull the item you wanted in one pull, you may think, "Maybe it's my lucky day! I am so happy!
For me, gacha is a "magic time" that makes every day a little bit more special.
We hope to share the wonder of such capsule toys with you.
Countless wonderful items appeared in the first half of 2025 this year.
It was honestly a very difficult question to narrow it down to the best 5...!
Nevertheless, we managed to select five items that we chose after much hesitation.
Please take a look at these impressive capsule toys that symbolize the past six months.
■No. 5: Searching for a guess uncle!
Uncle sheet" TOSHIN 300 yen, released in April, 2013
This item is the pinnacle of “de-ochi” capsule toys from TOSHIN, a manufacturer in Obihiro, Hokkaido.
The products are proudly printed with a full mattress of “strangers” who are not related to each other at all, and who are often said, "You're on my back.
The lineup includes Masao, who was born in 1942, Noritaka, who was born in 1946, Kazuo, who was born in 1959, Koichi, who was born in 1970, and Takafumi, who was born in 1975, making for a tasty five-member lineup.

Kitan Club presents a retro capsule toy that is full of nostalgia. The name is "Grandma's Electricity Strap.
Children of the 2025 generation may not be familiar with this lighting fixture, but it is a palm-sized reproduction of the “pull the string to turn on/off” type lighting fixtures that were familiar in Japanese-style rooms during the Showa period.
When the string is pulled, the light orange nightlight turns on. Pulling the string again turns off the light.

Items by Toys Cabin, which has many fans among capsule toy enthusiasts.
For this amount of money, I take my hat off to this technology and this quality.
You can actually play with it out of the box.
The tires also move. If it were this small, it would be easy to just "look at it," but the fact that it doesn't is truly amazing!
Incidentally, I was surprised to see that it is possible to put a 1/16 work cat from the same manufacturer on it.
This toy can be looked at and moved around, and will be the number one toy for the first half of 2025 by a long shot.
