Have you heard of Machiboke, an original deformed figure series developed by Bandai's Gashapon®?
Based on the concept of "I'll always be waiting for you......," the series features animals, anthropomorphic items, and a variety of characters standing somewhat wistfully on their knees.
The healthy and fragile figure has captured the hearts of many collectors and has become a very popular series that can almost always be seen in the capsule toy section.
You must have seen them at least once.
The legendary title "Metal Gear" has finally been added to this very popular series.
The "Metal Gear" series has sold more than 63.3 million copies worldwide (as of the end of June 2025) and has reigned as the gold standard in the stealth action genre since its release.
With such a serious and hard world view, "Metal Gear" has become a "Machiboke" figure.
The snakes "waiting" under their breath was actually a surprisingly good match for the concept of the series.
METAL GEAR Machiboke lineup
The "Machiboke" series ranges from 300 yen to 500 yen, depending on the product, but this time it was 400 yen per visit.
The lineup consists of four types, two each selected from "Metal Gear Solid (MGS1)" and "Metal Gear Solid 2 (MGS2)".

The sight of the weapons and heroes that once set off sparks on the battlefield, miniaturized in their stern appearance and sitting together in a gymnasium, has an impact that makes even non-fans look twice.
When placed on a desk, its appearance is quite surreal and makes you laugh!
This time, I drew on Metal Gear RAY (MGS2) and Cardboard (MGS2), the second in the series.
I was especially happy to get the cardboard boxes in one piece, because I wanted to see what was inside!
[Review] Metal Gear RAY (MGS2)
With its inherently organic silhouette, RAY boasts overwhelming coolness as an anti-Metal Gear weapon.
In the game, it looks huge and powerful, but it is folded so small that we forget that it is its original form, and when we saw it sitting in gymnasium, we couldn't help but giggle at the gap between the two.
It is so beautifully miniaturized in all directions that when you actually hold it in your hand, you can't help but turn it around and observe it, and although it is small, it is massive.
The mechanical details are meticulously crafted and wonderfully compact, and the result is absolutely adorable!
Review] Cardboard (MGS2)
And then there is "cardboard.
On the surface, the "THE ORANGE" logo and shipping label are precisely reproduced, and at first glance it appears to be just a small box on which a small box is placed.
The quintessence of this figure, however, was at the "bottom.
The "legs" of the snake inside are well sculpted when the figure is turned over!
I couldn't help but laugh at this specification.
This is surreal because you can't see what's inside, which should make you feel the tension of "that man is lurking in here ......", but you can peek underneath.
I was completely taken by the mischievous gap between the serious worldview of the main game and this "only-feet-out" look.
Conclusion
The "METAL GEAR Machiboke" capsule toy was a perfect balance of respect for the original work and the playful spirit typical of the Machiboke series.
In particular, the modeling of the feet hidden in the bottom of the "cardboard" is a grinning point that only those who have actually held the product can appreciate.
You can decorate it in your house, take pictures of it in your guessing game, or just look at it!
If you want to be struck by this surreal charm, look for it!
