The largest-ever renovation and reopening of the bono Sagami-Okano Shopping Center, featuring the largest-ever store in the Sagami-Okano area and a number of high-profile tenants that will enhance the value of the visitor experience.
(Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takayuki Unuma) and Nomura Real Estate Commerce Co. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the opening of the shopping center, which will undergo its largest-ever renovation.
Outline of this renewal
The theme of this renewal is "a family-friendly commercial facility that is more closely connected to local lifestyles and child-rearing families". The new facility will cover approximately 4,000 square meters, with approximately 20 new, relocated, or remodeled stores. The first phase of renovations will begin with the opening of four new stores on June 5, 2026 (Friday), followed by a series of renovations in the following months.
Through this renewal, this facility will continue to contribute to the enhancement of community value as a "town hub" that is indispensable to daily life and close to the diverse lifestyles of local families, including those raising children.
(1) Strengthen tenant composition to meet the needs of families
By introducing tenants that meet the needs of families, the shopping center will evolve into a commercial facility that caters to a wide range of scenes, from daily use to weekend family outings.
The main stores of interest are as follows
Nishimatsuya" was selected as the No. 1 retailer that BONO members with children would like to see open a store in the pre-sales survey.
GACHA GACHA NO MORI, the largest capsule toy specialty store in the area, with approximately 670 units installed
Workman Colors, one of the nation's largest stores specializing in work clothes and casual wear, boasts the largest sales floor area in Japan.
Amusement facility “GiGO” with a "Kids' Market" where children can exchange points accumulated through play for candy and toys.
(2) "bono Kids PARK," a free indoor playground, is newly established on the 4th floor.
In July 2026, "bono KidsPARK," a free indoor playground of approximately 160 ㎡ for children aged 0 to 6, will be newly established on the 4th floor. In addition to the age-appropriate zoning, which separates areas for children aged 0 to 1 and 2 to 6, the facility will also include a digital contents corner and a picture book corner. The new facility will be built in response to the lack of indoor playgrounds in the Sagami-Okano area.
In addition, based on a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Sagamihara City, the project is planning to implement a program in collaboration with the Sagami Oono Library and a hands-on program in collaboration with teachers and students from Sagami Women's University and the university's elementary school.
(iii) New construction of multifunctional baby room and renewal of existing facilities
Also on the 4th floor, a new multifunctional baby room will be opened in July. The layout is designed to facilitate stroller circulation and ease of feeding and diaper changing, and is scheduled to be certified as a "Combi Recommended Nursing Room". In addition, the nursing rooms and diaper changing corners on the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th floors will be renovated sequentially to create a safe and comfortable environment for visitors with children throughout the building.
